- Mission
- Own the delivery activity in an effective and efficient manner
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to expectations
- Ensure PSL always deliver quality solutions and a quality service
- Ensure PSL deliveries are managed and controlled to support PSL financial and operational objectives
- Ensure work is seamlessly managed and coordinated between internal PSL teams.
Responsibilities
- The Project Manager has overall responsibility for the success of their projects:
- Leadership
- Motivating and inspiring teams to deliver business outcomes
- Articulating the vision, objectives, and outcomes of deliveries
- Developing teams by providing regular valuable feedback, coaching & mentoring
- Facilitate effective planning and delivery checkpoint meetings.
- Relationship Management
- Co-ordinate with key stakeholders
- Create and execute a stakeholder management and communication plan
- Ensure implementation and release deliveries support positive net promotor scores.
- Project Planning
- Ensure work is planned and delivered to support commitments made both to our clients and internal stakeholders
- Build and execute consistent and repeatable plans adhering to planning standards
- Cut plans in different ways for communication and stakeholder management i. e. detailed plan, high level plan, milestone plan, plan on a page
- Understand and articulate the critical path for release delivery.
- Project Financials
- Adhere to agreed revenue and cost positions as defined in project governance
- Track actuals against forecasts and manage to ensure delivery against forecasts
- Accurately articulate current financial position to key stakeholders.
- Project Delivery
- Support teams to enable them to deliver for the project
- Manage and resolve dependencies between projects
- Monitor and control delivery activities.
- Governance
- Provide regular status reporting for all deliveries
- Prepare & run steering meetings
- Implement controls so all work has formal approval to proceed and formal acceptance when complete
- Drive smooth quality gate transitions.
- Scope & Change Management
- Manage scope and change using a formal change process
- Ensure all change is appropriately impact assessed against business cases
- Maintain an audit trail of change.
- Resourcing
- Understand the right resources required to deliver plan and ensure assigned
- Develop a resource profile aligned with the plan.
- Risk & Issue Management
- Anticipate, identify, and mitigate against the things that could derail project delivery
- Manage risk horizons of short, medium, and long term
- Identify, articulate, and quantify delivery risks
- Deploy a range of effective risk mitigation and management strategies
- Identify issues early and ensure effective and timely corrective action is taken Take ownership for resolving issues and escalations.
- Commercial Awareness
- Understand the commercial drivers and value of the project and client relationship to PSL, and optimise delivery to maximise commercial return.
- Skill and Competencies
- Project management experience within technology delivery
- Financial services, financial sector, or financial product experience
- A passion for continuous learning and improvement
- Excellent communicator with strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Curious to ensure solutions are fit for purpose
- Experience of risk control management
- Understanding of software development lifecycles
- Comfortable with multi-tasking and adapting to changing priorities
- Ability to effectively manage budgets and delegate tasks
- Working knowledge of delivery methodology, tools, and techniques
- Ability to travel, as required.
