We need a leader to ensure our solutions are delivered successfully and profitably for the business, and that our customers maximise the benefits our solutions enable them to realise. The Head of Delivery co‑ordinates and aligns both our clients and PSL to get the right value from our product solutions and services.

  • Own the delivery activity for PSL, maximising delivery effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure solutions and services are delivered on time, within budget, and to expectations
  • Ensure PSL always deliver quality solutions and a quality service
  • Ensure PSL deliveries are managed and controlled to support PSL financial and operational objectives
  • Ensure work is seamlessly managed and coordinated between internal PSL teams

The Head of Delivery has overall responsibility for the success and profitability of onboarding new clients and continual releases of our SaaS product propositions, including:

  • Team Leadership
    • Motivating and inspiring teams to deliver business outcomes
    • Articulating the vision, objectives and outcomes of deliveries
    • Developing teams by providing regular valuable feedback, coaching & mentoring
    • Facilitate effective planning and delivery checkpoint meetings
  • Planning
    • Ensure work is planned and delivered to support commitments made both to our clients and internal stakeholders
    • Build and execute consistent and repeatable plans to both onboard new clients and execute product releases for existing customers
    • Cut plans in different ways for communication and stakeholder management i.e. detailed plan, high level plan, milestone plan, plan on a page
    • Understand and articulate the deliveries critical path
    • Define and adhere to planning standards
  • Relationship Management
    • Co‑ordinate with key stakeholders
    • Create and execute a stakeholder management and communication plan
    • Ensure implementation and release deliveries support positive net promoter scores
  • Project Financials
    • Adhere to agreed revenue and cost positions as defined in customer contracts
    • Track actuals against forecasts and manage activity to ensure deliver against forecasts
    • Work with Finance to manage client invoicing
    • Accurately articulate current financial position to key stakeholders
  • Delivery
    • Support teams to enable them to deliver onboarding and regular releases
    • Manage and resolve dependencies between client and internal work
    • Monitor and control delivery activities
  • Governance
    • Provide regular status reporting for all deliveries
    • Prepare & run internal and client steering meetings
    • Implement controls so all work has formal approval to proceed and formal acceptance when complete
    • Drive smooth quality gate transitions
  • Scope / Change Management
    • Manage scope and change using a formal change process
    • Ensure all change is appropriately impact assessed with clear business cases
    • Maintain an audit trail of change
  • Resourcing
    • Understand the resource required to deliver and plan to ensure the right resource is assigned
    • Develop a resource profile aligned with the plan
  • Risk and Issue Management
    • Anticipate, identify and mitigate against the things that could derail delivery
    • Managing risk horizons of short, medium and long term
    • Identify, articulate and quantify delivery risks
    • Deploy a range of effective risk mitigation and management strategies
    • Identify issues early and ensure effective and timely corrective action is taken
    • Take ownership for resolving issues and escalations
  • Business Case
    • Articulate and document the business value generated from all deliveries
    • Identify and map all hard and soft benefits
    • Develop a benefits realisation strategy and plan

Skills and Competencies Required:

  • 5 plus years’ experience of a similar leadership role within technology delivery, including large scale implementations and data migrations
  • A passion for continuous learning and improvement
  • Excellent communicator with strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Curious to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and meet client and contractual obligations
  • Experience of risk control management
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and adapting to changing priorities
  • Ability to effectively manage budgets and delegate tasks
  • Working knowledge of delivery methodology, tools, and techniques
  • Ability to travel to client sites, as required

The Head of Delivery reports into the Chief Technology Officer and manages a team. They work closely with:

  • External: Customer stakeholders, 3rd party suppliers, Industry bodies
  • Internal: ELT members, Delivery teams, Architecture teams, Operations
