The Trade Compliance Senior Coordinator will need to safeguard and streamline the brand's international movement of goods by ensuring full compliance with global trade, customs, and import/export regulations across 35 countries. This role acts as the key liaison between internal teams, freight partners, customs authorities, and suppliers to guarantee accurate documentation, prevent operational delays, and uphold the brand's ethical, regulatory, and sustainability commitments. The Trade Compliance Coordinator ensures that all products cross borders efficiently, legally, and in accordance with the brand's luxury standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all import and export activities comply with global customs regulations, including UK, EU, US, Middle East, and APAC markets.
- Assign and maintain accurate HS tariff classifications for all products and raw materials.
- Prepare, review, and validate trade compliance documentation (e.g., HS codes, COO, export declarations, licences).
- Manage and monitor preferential trade programs (e.g., GSP, EU-UK TCA) to optimise duties and reduce costs.
- Collect and verify supplier documentation and origin statements; manage preferential trade agreements to optimise duties.
- Support customs brokers and logistics partners by providing timely and accurate product data.
- Support the launch of new markets by identifying regulatory requirements and duties.
- Monitor international trade regulations and sanctions affecting the movement of goods (including restricted materials, dual-use concerns, embargoes).
- Ensure product-specific import requirements are met for all 35 markets (labelling, fibre content, country-of-origin rules, packaging regulations).
- Maintain and update internal compliance databases and regulatory files.
- Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with customs and trade policies.
- Identify and mitigate customs risks early in the production and shipping process.
- Troubleshoot customs clearance issues and proactively resolve non-compliance situations.
- Provide internal training on trade compliance requirements and documentation best practices.
- Support sustainability initiatives by ensuring alignment with environmental packaging regulations, waste directives, and emerging global standards.
- Work with suppliers to collect and verify certifications required for cross-border movement.
- Collaborate with sustainability consultants to integrate new regulatory obligations into trade and logistics workflows.
- Act as the compliance interface between Production, Logistics and Legal.
- Participate in Logistics shipment planning meetings to anticipate trade compliance risks.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience Required
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs, or international logistics; luxury fashion or premium consumer goods experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of global customs regulations, HS classification, free-trade agreements, and import/export documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
- Knowledge of Office package.
- Ability to communicate clearly with international stakeholders, customs authorities, and suppliers.
- A commercial mindset that balances regulatory rigour with operational efficiency.
- Experience working with global markets and multi-country distribution environments.
