- Senior Software Engineer - Glasgow
We’re looking for an experienced full-stack developer to join Phlo as a Senior Software Engineer.
You’ll help develop Phlo Connect, our industry-leading healthcare provider platform, alongside our Clinical Check, Dispensing and prescription order management systems.
You’ll be part of a close-knit team of developers, designers and product owners, with the autonomy and influence to help shape the future of Phlo.
The Job
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be involved in
- Working collaboratively with developers, designers, product owner sand the wider business to deliver our vision of the pharmacy of the future.
- Working in small, collaborative teams where AI-assisted development is part of our day-to-day approach.
You’ll use AI tools thoughtfully to spend less time on routine work and more time solving the problems that matter, while sharing effect live practices and maintaining strong engineering judgement.
- Communicating complex technical subjects clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Building our products and leading by example through hands-on development. You’ll help establish effective engineering practices and maintain the quality of our systems.
- Planning complex work, breaking it into manageable tasks and leading projects through to delivery.
Our teams are given the autonomy to shape technical solutions and own their outcomes.
- Designing the technical approach and architecture for projects, identifying the key components, data structures and delivery steps required.
- Researching areas of technical uncertainty, clearly documenting findings and reviewing recommendations with the team.
- Helping the team improve by identifying better ways of working and driving small initiatives that strengthen our engineering practices.
- Mentoring other developers, helping them identify opportunities for growth and supporting them through their development.
- Working with technologies including Type Script, React, Koa, Next. js, Vite, Playwright, Node. js, Postgre SQL, Kubernetes, GCP and Azure Dev Ops.
- The Person
Ideally, we’re looking for someone with
- Experience building, deploying and supporting software in production.
You’ll be comfortable taking an idea from concept through to a reliable product used by Phlo’s patients and healthcare partners.
- A strong understanding of modern web and cloud technologies, with the judgement to choose practical solutions and establish effective technical patterns
The ability to take a holistic view of the systems you’re building.
You’ll look beyond an individual feature, understand how components fit together and identify emerging patterns, risks and architectural issues early.
- Experience planning and delivering complex work, including breaking larger problems into manageable tasks and taking ownership through to completion.
- A solution-focused mindset. You’ll work through ambiguity, identify the problems worth solving and help the team and wider business achieve their goals.
- The ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and adapt your approach for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- The ability to make change happen. You’ll know how to improve systems and ways of working while bringing others with you.
