We are looking for an energetic and proactive Transport Team Leader to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who is lively, fluent in English, and ready to contribute to our transport department's success.
As a forklift company, we currently operate only one lorry, two specialised trailers and a subcontractor. We need a Transport Team Leader for managing international containers, Europe shipments and local transport. It will be advantageous if you have some knowledge of plant and plant handling, but training can be provided. You will also be working with a transport assistant who will assist you in your daily duties. You will be assisting the Transport Manager in his daily duties.
Key Responsibilities:- Driver Management:
- Licence Checks: Verify drivers have correct licences for their vehicles, often checking quarterly.
- Compliance: Monitor drivers' hours and Working Time Directive compliance.
- Tachographs: Download and store digital tachograph data.
- Documentation: Provide necessary documents for international journeys.
- Vehicle Management:
- Maintenance: Oversee effective vehicle maintenance systems and schedules.
- Roadworthiness: Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and taken out of service if not.
- Inspections: Arrange for MOTs and safety inspections.
- Defect Reporting: Ensure drivers report defects and that they are fixed promptly.
- Operational Management:
- Route Planning: Plan efficient routes and deliveries.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records for all operations.
- Liaison: Work with sales, suppliers, and other departments.
- Incident Management: Investigate issues like prohibitions or test failures.
- STGO: We as a company move a lot of big forklifts; this candidate must have a good understanding of STGO CAT1 & CAT2 movements.
- Europe Shipments & International Containers:
- Good understanding of Incoterms and paperwork of exports and imports from Europe.
- Liaising with freight forwarders about shipments and rates on containers.
- Providing customers with ETAs of their containers and closely monitor imports schedule with our suppliers from China.
- Raising of packing lists, delivery notes and invoices.
- Good understanding of customs procedures.
- Able to generate GMRs, Levie payments and ferry bookings.
- Good understanding of how to import containers and the import procedures.
- Good understanding of how to export containers and the import procedures.
- Liaising with China suppliers about the scheduling of imports.
- Route planning of deliveries and collections of forklifts.
- Liaising with drivers and subcontractors' drivers to provide accurate ETAs for deliveries and collections.
