About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Deputy Clinical Manager to join our teams at Beckenham Beacon Urgent Treatment Centre and Princess Royal University Hospital in South London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician to support the UTC Clinical Manager in providing strong clinical leadership and ensuring consistently high standards of safe, effective and patient-centred care.
The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with experience and knowledge of minor illness and minor injury presentations, gained within an urgent care, emergency department or primary care setting. You will be an independent prescriber with the clinical expertise, professional judgement and leadership skills required to make a positive contribution to the service.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the UTC leadership team, you will:
- Support the Clinical Manager in the day-to-day clinical leadership and management of the service.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical pathways and service improvement projects.
- Undertake delegated management responsibilities and provide visible clinical leadership.
- Support the induction, training, mentoring and ongoing development of new and existing colleagues.
- Work regular clinical hours alongside your leadership responsibilities, maintaining a visible presence within the clinical team.
- Promote high standards of clinical practice, patient safety and professional accountability.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Provide additional support to the service during periods of increased demand where required.
- Participate in weekend and bank-holiday working as part of the role.
You will need to demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously when undertaking delegated responsibilities.
About You
We are looking for a clinician who is confident, approachable and committed to delivering high-quality patient care. You will have strong clinical expertise alongside the leadership skills needed to support colleagues and contribute to the continued development of the service.
You will have:
- Current NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions on practice.
- A Registered Nurse or Paramedic qualification.
- A Level 7 postgraduate certificate in Advanced Practice or equivalent, with evidence of working towards a Master’s qualification.
- At least four years’ full-time post-registration experience, ideally including experience in a senior clinical role.
- At least one year’s experience working as an autonomous practitioner within a UTC, emergency department or primary care setting.
- An Independent Prescribing qualification.
- A Level 6 or 7 qualification in minor illness and/or minor injury.
- Experience and competence in X-ray interpretation. Red Dot and IR(ME)R training, or an equivalent recognised qualification, is desirable.
- A mentoring, supervision or practice education qualification and relevant experience.
- Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development.
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening.
- A strong understanding of professional responsibility and accountability.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise competing demands.
- Enhanced DBS clearance and the right to work in the UK.
