We are exclusively partnering with a high-growth, international digital consumer platform backed by cutting-edge technology and a bold vision to transform customers’ experience. At a pivotal stage in its expansion, the business is seeking an accomplished and commercially astute Senior Payments Manager to play a critical role in driving innovation and financial performance through best-in-class payments operations.

This is a dynamic and future-facing business that is reshaping the online space. With a presence across multiple European markets and an ambitious global growth roadmap, the organisation is investing heavily in strategic areas like payments to unlock value, improve efficiency, and elevate customer experience.

The Senior Payments Manager will report to the Head of Payments and play a central role in shaping the commercial payments strategy, overseeing relationships with key providers, and driving improvements across all payment touchpoints. This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys building from the ground up, and is passionate about how smart payments infrastructure can be a competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and nurturing strategic partnerships with a diverse range of payment providers, securing favourable terms, negotiating robust contracts, and guaranteeing access to innovative features, services, and solutions across all stages of the customer payment journey.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the Head of Payments, stepping in to provide leadership support and guidance where needed, particularly in driving forward international growth initiatives.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with teams across Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Finance to ensure the payments roadmap is fully integrated with broader strategic priorities.
  • Identifying and delivering initiatives to enhance payments performance across multiple touchpoints — from initial checkout to post-booking instalments — while maintaining an optimal balance of cost, experience, and risk management.
  • Monitoring and ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory requirements across jurisdictions, actively managing operational risk and reinforcing compliance frameworks.
  • Staying informed on emerging trends, regulatory shifts, and competitor innovations within the payments landscape to guide strategic decision-making and maintain competitive differentiation.
  • Contributing to the planning and oversight of payment-related cost forecasts, with particular focus on transaction processing fees — a major driver within the business’s variable cost structure.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Deep expertise in the payments ecosystem, with a proven track record of managing commercial relationships and optimising terms with payment service providers.
  • Strong understanding of both card and alternative payment methods, ideally across multiple European markets.
  • Experience within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment such as e-commerce, technology, or consumer-focused digital platforms.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to identify and act on opportunities that drive value and impact.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and external partners alike.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the credibility to operate at senior levels both internally and externally.
  • Experience with customer-centric payments design — balancing conversion, cost, fraud mitigation, and UX — is highly desirable.
