We are partnering with a private equity‑backed biopharma business at a critical stage of its growth journey to appoint a high‑calibre CFO. This role will be instrumental in professionalising the finance function, supporting international expansion, and leading M&A activity. Working closely with the CEO, Board, and investors, the CFO will play a central role in shaping and delivering the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the finance function, driving professionalisation, scalability, and best‑in‑class processes, controls, and systems.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, providing insight and challenge to support decision‑making.
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range planning processes across a growing international footprint.
  • Lead all M&A activity, including target evaluation, due diligence, transaction execution, and post‑acquisition integration.
  • Support international expansion, including market entry strategy, financial structuring, and operational setup.
  • Oversee cash management, funding, and capital allocation, working closely with private equity stakeholders.
  • Deliver high‑quality board reporting and investor communications.
  • Ensure robust governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks are in place, appropriate for a scaling biopharma business.
  • Build and mentor a high‑performing finance leadership team.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with significant post‑qualified experience.
  • Proven CFO (or Divisional CFO / Finance Director ready to step up) experience within a private equity‑backed, high‑growth environment.
  • Experience in biopharma, life sciences, or a closely related regulated sector.
  • Strong track record of professionalising finance functions and supporting scale.
  • Demonstrable M&A experience, including leading transactions and integrations.
  • Experience supporting international expansion across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Highly commercial, with the ability to operate strategically and at pace.
  • Credible, influential leader with strong stakeholder management skills, including Board and investor exposure.
