The Technical Service Trainer is responsible for delivering high quality, industry leading technical training to customers, technicians, and internal teams across Delphi Academy subject areas. Reporting to the Technical Training Lead, this role ensures that training programmes are delivered to the highest professional standard, consistently reflecting Delphi’s technical expertise, product knowledge, and commitment to advancing workshop capability.

The role plays a key part in maintaining and developing the Academy’s training curriculum - ensuring content remains current, compliant, and aligned with emerging technologies and Delphi’s product portfolio. The Technical Trainer also supports effective planning and management of the training calendar, coordinating resources and helping balance customer demand with team capacity and development objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • High‑Quality Training Delivery: Deliver engaging, professional technical training across Delphi Academy disciplines, including diagnostics, EV/hybrid systems, ADAS, emissions, electronics, and chassis technologies. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical training that supports technicians of all experience levels. Adapt delivery style to suit audience capability, ensuring an inclusive and effective learning environment. Maintain accurate training and attendance records to support reporting, development planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Curriculum Development & Content Quality: Contribute to the creation and continual improvement of course materials, presentations, assessments, and practical exercises. Ensure training content reflects current legislation, industry standards, and Delphi product updates. Capture delegate feedback and use insights to refine course structure, technical depth, and hands-on activity design. Support the development of new modules aligned with emerging technologies and market needs.
  • Customer & Partner Engagement: Act as a technical ambassador for Delphi Academy, delivering an excellent experience that reinforces customer confidence in Delphi products and services. Provide guidance to delegates before, during, and after training to support workplace application and long-term learning. Support demonstrations, open-days, and partner events to promote Delphi’s technical capability and training offering. Build strong relationships with distributors, training bodies, and workshop customers to support Academy growth.
  • Operational Excellence: Assist with planning and managing the Academy’s training schedule, ensuring efficient use of trainers, vehicles, tools, and workshop facilities. Prepare training rooms, diagnostic equipment, and vehicles ahead of every course to ensure a safe, professional learning environment. Identify and escalate equipment issues promptly to minimise disruption and maintain high training standards. Contribute to operational improvements that enhance the customer experience and Academy efficiency.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Development: Work closely with the Technical Training Lead and wider technical support teams to share knowledge and maintain consistent customer messaging. Provide technical input during product launches, ensuring trainers and customers are fully equipped for new technologies. Maintain an active learning mindset—keeping up to date with evolving vehicle technologies, diagnostics trends, and PHINIA innovations. Support cross-functional activities where required, including content creation, pilot courses, and internal training sessions.
Required
  • Proven experience delivering technical training within the automotive sector
  • In-depth knowledge of modern vehicle systems, diagnostics, and emerging technologies
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and develop others
  • Experience designing and developing training content (classroom and online)
  • Confident user of diagnostic tools and automotive test equipment
  • High level of IT literacy and familiarity with e-learning platforms
  • Excellent organisational and planning ability
  • Comfortable engaging with a variety of stakeholders—from technicians to senior leaders
Preferred
  • Experience of working in a global and cross matrix organization
  • Technical understanding of Automotive Industry and Aftermarket
