JOB PURPOSE: Support development activities for a full range of diesel fuel injection high pressure pump products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and development of diesel high pressure pump diesel fuel injection components.
  • Devising and executing test and analysis work on fuel injection equipment on rigs, engines and vehicles.
  • Contributing to formal and informal design and development reviews at appropriate stages of projects.
  • Strip down and investigate mechanical failures and perform root cause analysis.
  • Writing reports and presenting results to internal and external audiences.
  • Organise the procurement and testing of sample hardware to meet project/objective requirements.
  • Analyse customer’s & legislative test requirements and formulate technical cost-effective solutions.
  • Preparation and definition of simulation models to support development analysis.
  • Development and use of test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Interpretation of test data, synthesis of results & reporting.
  • Exposure to and understanding of high precision manufacturing technologies required to produce advanced prototypes.
  • Definition and execution of test plans to provide feedback to the development/project objectives.
  • Assessments of designs using established DFMEA methods to develop a robust product.
  • Contribution to project reviews and product development.
  • Analyse test & simulation data, make recommendations for further testing or product improvement.

Skills

Mandatory:

  • Rig test instrumentation and operation experience.
  • Data acquisition and post processing experience.
  • Aptitude for data driven problem solving.
  • Comfortable with ‘hands-on’ dismantling and reassembling of mechanical components.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of DFMEA methodology.
  • Experience of design and development of products at all stages of product life cycle from concept through volume manufacturing to service only.
  • Reliability assessment and accelerated/aggravated test development including correlation to customer environment/duty cycle.
  • Experience working with Engineering Technicians.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate via reports, emails and presentations.
  • Be able to work, present and communicate within all areas of the organisation from shop floor to management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.
  • Ability to support problem solving with structured methodologies.

Experience & Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a suitable engineering.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Excellent written and spoken fluency in English.
  • Software skills in management operating system Software, & Microsoft office.
  • Understand Business requirements to support operational and Supply chain management requirements.
  • Ideally with a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
