SEND Teaching Assistant Specialist SEN School Full-Time 8.30am – 4.30pm (early finish Fridays) Hendon Are you interested in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs? A specialist SEND school in Hendon are currently recruiting support staff for the new academic year. The school are looking for committed and enthusiastic teaching assistants who have experience supporting young people with SEN although not necessarily in a school environment. You should be willing to get involved in all aspects of pupils care and progress, be able to work under pressure and have good communication and interpersonal skills. We have three specific roles, all of which are Full-time and start in September 2022: Role 1 – Early Years Assistant In this role you will be supporting children under 5 years old who have identified needs. The school are ideally looking for someone who has previously worked in EYFS and has a good knowledge of the curriculum. You will be provided with training and guidance in how to effectively support the individual children’s needs. Role 2 – MLD Class Teaching Assistant In this role you will be working in a class of 6 pupils with moderate learning difficulties. Pupils have lower level needs and are able to access a mainstream curriculum with additional support. Role 3- PMLD/Complex Needs In this role you will be working in a class of 6 pupils with complex needs and profound multiple learning difficulties. This role will involve supporting learning and development activities specifically designed for the pupils in the class and providing care support including feeding and manual handling. Previous experience with PMLD children would be preferable for this role. The School This specialist school is for pupils aged 4-19 years, has an integrated approach towards developing the potential and independence of our pupils with moderate to severe and profound learning difficulties. As well as core learning, the school focusses on helping pupils to explore and learn new things, provides support for finding work and living independently and helping those with learning disabilities to lead the life they want. The school was recently refurbished and benefits from state of the art facilities. The school is part wider provision of support for the Jewish community in North London.
