We are currently working with a secondary school in Wandsworth who are looking for a Head of Geography to join their school on a full-time basis from September 2026.

The Role

In this Head of Geography role, you will be responsible for teaching Geography across Key Stages 3, 4 and, where applicable, Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students and foster a genuine enthusiasm for the subject. As Head of Department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision and direction of the Geography curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and achievement across the department.

You will lead and support a team of teachers in creating an ambitious, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where all students are encouraged to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will be expected to drive attainment and progress, monitor student outcomes effectively and implement strategies that promote excellent academic achievement and positive behaviour for learning.

The role will also involve overseeing curriculum planning and development, supporting staff through coaching and professional development, and ensuring that teaching practices remain innovative, engaging and aligned with whole-school priorities. Working closely with senior leadership, you will contribute to the wider school improvement agenda and help strengthen the department’s reputation for excellence.

This position would suit an experienced Geography teacher with strong leadership skills, high expectations and a passion for delivering outstanding education within a dynamic secondary school environment. The role is expected to begin initially on a long-term temporary basis, with the opportunity to become a permanent appointment for the right candidate.
