SEND Teacher – Secondary SEND School Location: Southwark, South London Salary: Inner London Pay Scale / Paid to Scale via Agency Contract: Long-term Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday About the Role Philosophy Education are working with a specialist secondary SEND school in Southwark who are looking to appoint an experienced SEND Teacher for a long-term, full-time position. The school supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), behaviours that challenge, PMLD and complex medical needs. The successful candidate will be working with a KS4 class of 8 pupils with ASD, delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of needs, abilities and learning styles. Teaching Assistants will also be present within lessons to provide additional support to pupils and assist the teacher. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong experience supporting pupils with autism and complex sensory difficulties. QTS-qualified SEND Teachers are preferred, although experienced teachers with a strong specialist SEND background may also be considered. The Role Teach a secondary class (KS3/KS4) of up to 8 pupils with ASD within a specialist secondary SEND setting. Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet a range of needs, abilities and learning styles. Provide appropriate support for pupils with autism and complex sensory difficulties. Work alongside Teaching Assistants who provide additional in-class support. Use positive behaviour strategies and appropriate sensory/regulation approaches. Adapt teaching and resources to support individual pupil needs and maximise engagement. Monitor pupil progress and contribute to assessment and individual education plans. Work collaboratively with support staff, families and other professionals to ensure consistent pupil support. The Ideal Candidate QTS-qualified SEND Teacher preferred. Proven experience working with pupils with Autism and complex sensory difficulties. Experience supporting pupils with PMLD, complex medical needs and/or behaviours that challenge is highly desirable. Confident differentiating lessons and adapting teaching to a range of abilities. Patient, resilient and committed to supporting pupils with complex SEND needs. Able to work effectively alongside Teaching Assistants and wider support teams. Available to work full-time and commit to a long-term placement.
