Behaviour Support Assistant (On-Call)

Secondary School - Greenwich

Full-time or Flexible Hours Available

Start Date: Immediate Start

Are you calm under pressure and passionate about making a difference in young people's lives?

The Role

A large, inclusive secondary school in Greenwich is seeking proactive and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistants to join their pastoral team this September. This role is ideal for individuals with experience supporting students with challenging behaviour or Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will provide crucial on-call support across the school day. When students become disruptive or are struggling in class, you'll be called to safely remove them from lessons, help them regulate their emotions, and support them in returning to learning as quickly as possible. Your calm, empathetic and consistent approach will play a key part in maintaining a positive learning environment across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to on-call behaviour alerts throughout the school
  • Support students in emotional regulation and de-escalation
  • Work closely with pastoral and SEN teams
  • Encourage a smooth reintegration of students back into lessons

About the School

This is a large, mixed secondary school in Greenwich that prides itself on its inclusive ethos and vibrant school community. Students benefit from a broad and engaging curriculum, enrichment activities, and strong pastoral support. Staff are supported through a structured professional development programme and a collaborative leadership team.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting young people with SEN or SEMH needs
  • A calm, professional, and supportive approach to behaviour management
  • Confidence in working independently and responding to situations in real time

This position would suit an experienced cover supervisor, learning support assistant, or youth mentor seeking a role with greater responsibility and impact.
