We are seeking an ambitious, inspirational and experienced Early Years teacher to join a thriving and inclusive primary school as Reception Lead & Class Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to take on a key middle leadership role, leading Reception provision while teaching within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Role

As Reception Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving excellence across the Reception phase, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes. You will work closely with senior leaders and the wider Early Years team to further develop an engaging, ambitious and child-centered curriculum that inspires a love of learning and supports every child to thrive. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment where children feel safe, valued and motivated to achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing Reception provision across the school.
  • Monitoring standards, pupil progress and attainment within the phase.
  • Supporting, coaching and developing colleagues within the Early Years team.
  • Ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across the EYFS curriculum.
  • Promoting excellent transition arrangements from Nursery into Reception and from Reception into Key Stage 1.
  • Working closely with families to foster strong home-school partnerships.
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement as part of the middle leadership team.

The school is looking for a teacher who:

  • Can demonstrate consistently good or outstanding teaching practice within EYFS.
  • Has successful experience teaching in Reception and a strong understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.
  • Has experience of leading or coordinating an area of provision and is ready to take the next step into middle leadership.
  • Has a strong understanding of early reading, phonics and language development.
  • Is committed to securing excellent outcomes for all children, including those with SEND and EAL.
  • Is an effective communicator who can inspire colleagues, children and families.
  • Is organized, reflective and driven to continually improve practice.
  • Shares a commitment to inclusion, high expectations and excellence for every child.
