The Role You will be joining a large team to support pupils with autism and learning difficulties needs within the primary part of the school.  There are 5 – 6 pupils in each class and you will be supporting on a 1 to 1 basis although the children you work with will rotate within the class. Within the class you will be based in, some of the pupils demonstrate challenging behaviour and you should be confident in managing and be able to support in helping pupils to become calm. The school are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who has experience supporting young children or adults with special educational needs. You must be confident and be able to engage and proactively support pupils with alternative communication methods. The School This friendly and welcoming special needs school caters for pupils with learning difficulties and disabilities including those on the autism spectrum. The school is an established primary provision for pupils with special needs in Barnet and is currently growing and has recently opened a secondary provision. The school works in partnership with families to support students to develop their communication skills, be independent and support their all-round mental emotional and physical development.
