We are working with a forward-thinking all-through Academy in Edgware who are currently recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants to join their school in September.

The Role

  • As a Graduate Teaching Assistant you will be supporting pupils working at all levels including children with Special Educational Needs within a class or across a year group.
  • Your role will include:
  • Providing support to individual students and groups within the class ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress.
  • Leading small groups in English, Maths, phonics and reading.
  • Working with students with SEN and additional learning needs.
  • Supporting the preparation of classes including resources and equipment.
  • Assisting with assessments/observations where required.
  • Assisting with extra-curricular events and initiatives.
  • Providing support during break and lunchtimes as required.

  • A Bachelors degree.
  • A minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE English and GCSE Maths.
  • An interest in pursuing a career in education.
  • Strong verbal and written English.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A calm and approachable manner.

The Academy

This large all-through academy is based in Edgware, with good local transport links and a popular choice for families in the local area. In this specially designed building pupils have the opportunity to grow and develop with facilities specifically designed for younger children, but with the benefits of the resources of the attached secondary academy. There is a strong leadership team in place within the primary academy and staff and pupils enjoy a smaller, community atmosphere. There are good opportunities for professional development across the academy including teacher training so this is a great option for graduates and those looking to further their career in education.

All Graduate Teaching Assistant roles are offered on an academic year contract from September 2025 to July 2026. There will be opportunities after this contract for outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistants to continue with the school into the following academic year to complete their initial teacher training via the paid SCITT programme.

A group interview day will be held at the academy where senior leaders will be meeting all short-listed Teaching Assistants. In order to be considered for one of these roles, you will be required to complete the registration process with Philosophy Education and be available on Tuesday 10th June to attend the school.
