A welcoming and supportive primary school in Great Clacton is looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join its team from September. This full-time position would suit a confident HLTA who has experience supporting pupils across the primary age range and is comfortable leading lessons, delivering interventions and covering classes when required.
The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Role
- Delivering planned lessons to classes during teacher absence
- Leading small-group interventions in English and maths
- Supporting phonics and early reading sessions
- Providing targeted one-to-one support
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Assisting with classroom and behaviour management
- Preparing learning resources
- Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers
- Helping maintain a positive and inclusive primary school environment
The successful candidate may work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, depending on their experience and the needs of the school.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant Requirements
- Has previous experience working as an HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant
- Holds an HLTA qualification or has strong class-cover experience
- Is confident leading lessons and managing a classroom
- Has good knowledge of the primary curriculum
- Can deliver interventions in phonics, English and maths
- Has strong communication and behaviour-management skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Is reliable, adaptable and professional
- Can commit to a full-time position from September
