Philosophy Education is working in partnership with an ambitious and improving secondary school in South East London to recruit an exceptional Director of PE & Sport from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational leader to shape the strategic direction of PE, sport and physical enrichment across the school. With excellent sporting facilities and a strong commitment to student achievement and participation, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing a culture of sporting excellence and raising the profile of sport throughout the school community.

The Role

  • Lead the strategic development of PE and sport across the school.
  • Drive participation, achievement and competitive success.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing PE department.
  • Deliver an ambitious curriculum and enrichment programme.
  • Develop partnerships with clubs, academies and community organisations.
  • Create pathways for talented young athletes while promoting sport for all.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Successful secondary PE teaching experience.
  • Proven leadership potential or experience within PE.
  • Passionate about improving outcomes and increasing participation.
  • Ambitious, innovative and committed to delivering excellence.

Salary

MPS/UPS TLR1 (£10,174) Leadership Scale considered for an exceptional candidate.
