A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Enfield is seeking a confident and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their KS2 team, providing 1:1 support for a young child with Type 1 Diabetes in YR5.
Responsibilities
- You will be working closely with a child YR5, providing consistent 1:1 support with their medical needs, including monitoring blood glucose levels and supporting insulin administration.
- You will also help the child participate fully in daily activities and routines, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and happy in the nursery environment.
- In addition to 1:1 support, you will be an integral part of the YR5 Team, contributing to the daily running of the class and supporting other pupils as needed.
- Strong behaviour management is essential for this role, as well as a calm, proactive and reassuring approach to working with young children.
Requirements
- Experience working in a primary school or care setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and confidence working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Medical confidence; you do not need specific diabetes training, but you must be comfortable with learning and implementing medical care plans.
- A calm, nurturing and reliable attitude.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience supporting children with Type 1 Diabetes.
- First aid or medical training.
