We are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate PMLD Teacher to work in a specialist SEND school based in Waltham Forest. This role involves teaching pupils across Key Stages 1 to 4 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), complex physical disabilities, and medical needs. Pupils require highly individualized teaching, sensory-based learning opportunities, and significant adult support to access learning, communication, and daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging, personalized lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with PMLD
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes communication, engagement, and independence
  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families, and external professionals to support pupil development
  • Leading and coordinating a multidisciplinary approach to meeting pupils’ educational, physical, communication, and personal care needs
  • Monitoring and assessing progress against EHCP outcomes and individual learning targets
  • Using a range of communication approaches, including AAC, sensory strategies, and intensive interaction
  • Contributing to annual reviews, reports, and professional meetings

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching pupils with PMLD, SLD, or complex SEND needs
  • Strong understanding of sensory curriculum approaches and personalized learning
  • Experience working within a specialist SEND setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, behavior support, and supporting pupils with complex medical and physical needs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach to teaching

This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND Teacher to join a supportive specialist setting and make a meaningful difference to the lives of pupils across KS1–KS4 with complex needs.
