We are currently recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work full time in a specialist SEN secondary school based in Brixton, supporting students aged 11–19 years. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND TA who has experience working with autistic students and supporting learners with social and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with Autism and associated social, emotional and communication needs
- Providing 1:1 and small group support across the secondary age range
- Assisting with literacy and phonics interventions
- Using PECS and Makaton to support communication
- Implementing strong behaviour management strategies
- Supporting students with personal care when required
- Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support individual learning plans
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally within a secondary SEN setting
- Experience supporting autistic students with social and communication needs
- Practical experience using PECS and Makaton
- Experience delivering literacy and phonics support
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Ability to support personal care needs when necessary
- Available for a full-time position only
Pay & Working Hours:
- £92.41 per day PAYE, increasing to £100 per day PAYE after 12 weeks
- Full time: Monday to Friday
- School hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm
