A friendly and inclusive primary school in KT6 are looking for an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible to support a pupil with additional needs on a 1:1 basis.

The role involves working 1:1 with a pupil with ASC who is non-verbal and presents with behaviour challenges. The pupil requires consistent adult support to access learning, follow routines and engage safely within the classroom environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the pupil to understand and engage with learning activities using appropriate communication strategies
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Using visual supports, sensory strategies and structured routines
  • Assisting with social interaction and play skills
  • Supporting during some breaktimes and transitions

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support plans and will contribute to assessment, target setting and progress reporting. Relevant experience working with children with ASC, non-verbal communication and behaviour needs is essential for this role.

The school are looking for a confident SEN Teaching Assistant who is patient, proactive and able to remain calm in challenging situations. This part-time SEN Teaching Assistant role is to start ASAP and will continue on an ongoing basis. The contract has the potential to be extended depending on the needs of the school in the next academic year.
