A high-achieving and inclusive primary academy in Enfield is seeking an exceptionally experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide specialist 1:1 support to children with autism and developmental needs. This is a full-time, long-term position for someone ready to take on a rewarding role supporting young learners with complex needs.
The Role
In this role you will be based in a specialist SEND class within a mainstream primary academy. The class consists of 12 students, aged 4 to 7 years (Reception to Year 3), all diagnosed with autism and non‑verbal, with daily personal care requirements. Some children may display complex behaviours. The school is looking for a resilient, calm, and compassionate professional who can remain composed and supportive in demanding situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting students throughout the school day, including in‑class activities and transitions.
- Providing personal care and support with daily routines.
- Managing incidents safely and professionally.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals.
- Implementing consistent behaviour strategies and personalised learning support.
- Encouraging emotional regulation, social skills, and engagement in learning and development.
