A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Enfield is seeking a confident and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their KS2 team, providing 1:1 support for a young child with Type 1 Diabetes in YR5.

The Role

You will be working closely with a child in YR5, providing consistent 1:1 support with their medical needs, including monitoring blood glucose levels and supporting insulin administration. You will also help the child participate fully in daily activities and routines, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and happy in the nursery environment. In addition to 1:1 support, you will be an integral part of the YR5 Team, contributing to the daily running of the class and supporting other pupils as needed. Strong behaviour management is essential for this role, as well as a calm, proactive and reassuring approach to working with young children.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a primary school or care setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills and confidence working in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Medical confidence – you do not need specific diabetes training, but you must be comfortable with learning and implementing medical care plans
  • A calm, nurturing and reliable attitude

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous experience supporting children with Type 1 Diabetes
  • First aid or medical training
