We are currently looking for behaviour support assistants to work with a child with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs at a specialist SEMH school in Hackney.

The Role

In this role you will be supporting various pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs on a 1 to 1 and small group basis. Pupils attending the Pupil referral unit have been permanently excluded from mainstream school settings and you will need to be committed to improving the lives of those affected by emotional trauma or mental health. They are ideally looking for someone with a background in youth work or sports coaching who can provide support whilst maintaining high expectations. You need to have a positive and resilient approach with the ability to build relationships and de-escalate situations.

The school

This specialist school is based in Hackney and supports children from 5 to 16 who have SEMH as their main need. The school takes admissions from all surrounding mainstream schools for pupils who are unable to access learning due to their needs. The school supports both children and the families with positive, solution focused strategies to help manage behaviour/learning progress. The school has an established and dedicated leadership team in place and offers training and development opportunities for all staff.

If you are a calm, positive and resilient support assistant who is dedicated to supporting children with additional needs then this is an excellent opportunity.
