We are currently recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barking on a full-time basis from September. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and experienced HLTA to take on a varied and rewarding role within a supportive school community.

In this Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) role, you will provide PPA cover and deliver targeted intervention sessions across the school. You will work with pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2, supporting teaching and learning while helping to raise attainment across the curriculum. Working closely with class teachers and the senior leadership team, you will deliver engaging lessons, support small group learning, and provide high-quality classroom cover when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons during teachers’ PPA time.
  • Lead whole-class teaching across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Deliver targeted intervention sessions in English and Maths.
  • Support pupils through small group and one-to-one interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure continuity in learning.
  • Assist with planning, assessment, and classroom organisation where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social and emotional development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
About You

To be considered for this Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) role, you will have:

  • HLTA qualification or substantial experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant.
  • A minimum of one year’s experience working within a primary school.
  • A strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Confidence delivering lessons to whole classes across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A flexible, proactive, and positive approach to supporting children’s learning.
  • A genuine passion for primary education.
