Phillips Law is looking for a Solicitor to join our Corporate team in Basingstoke. This role offers the opportunity to work on high‑quality corporate transactions for a varied client base, including owner‑managed businesses, corporates, and investors, with increasing responsibility and client exposure.
About the Team
The corporate team is led by two partners and two legal directors, all of whom trained and practised at leading City firms and bring deep technical expertise across a broad range of transactional work. The senior lawyers work closely with the wider team, creating an environment where junior lawyers benefit from high‑quality City‑style work and direct partner exposure. The team is supported by two associates and a paralegal, offering opportunities for a junior lawyer looking to build strong foundations, take on responsibility early, and progress in a collaborative and ambitious practice.
What you’ll be doing
- Advising clients on a broad range of corporate transactions, including: Mergers and acquisitions, Corporate restructurings and reorganisations, and Joint ventures
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key transaction documentation, including: Share and asset purchase agreements, Disclosure letters, and Shareholders’ agreements and articles of association
- Managing transactions from instruction through to completion, with appropriate supervision
- Undertaking and coordinating legal due diligence exercises
- Providing commercially focused, pragmatic advice to clients
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting partners on complex matters and contributing to large‑scale transactions
- Supervising, supporting, and mentoring junior solicitors, paralegals and trainees
- Participating in business development activities, including client pitches, networking, and profile‑raising initiatives
To be successful for this position, you must have / be:
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 3-6 years PQE in corporate law
- Strong experience in M&A and general corporate work
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Ability to run matters with increasing autonomy
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Confident communicator with a client‑focused approach
- Commercially minded
