The Piping Technician role works independently and with others to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. They troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. The main purpose of this role is to have overall responsibility for shop and field fabrication, ensuring that correct installation and commissioning of relevant piping projects and mechanical activities upon static equipment throughout the refinery.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Role model for company values
- Resource for support to the Refinery
- Prioritising field activities to ensure effective use of contractors
- Assisting in the planning of pipe work
- Containing costs to defined scope and budget
- Ensuring all Quality Assurance / Quality Control requirements are followed and the replacement scope of works is completed as per requirements
- Encourages knowledge transfer across the disciplines
- Participating in the Maintenance department rostered callout system
- Production of engineering drawings for piping field repairs
- Co-ordinating and driving contract resources involved in field activities
Qualifications Basic/Required:
- Legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions
- Discipline qualification (City & Guilds, S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- Full, valid UK driving licence
- Demonstrated experience in piping fabrication and installation (Carbon Steel, Chrome, Stainless)
- Understanding of welding techniques and set up requirements
- Understand and be able to interpret Refinery piping fabrication and process drawings
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Effective time manager
- Team player
Preferred:
- Previous experience using petrochemical equipment (Columns, Exchangers, Heaters)
- Previous experience in planning and scoping works
- Previous QA experience in piping packages
