We are currently recruiting a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the Phillips 66 PREP graduate programme. It is a structured, multi‑year development journey that provides high‑potential graduates real accountability from day one, with rotations across key business areas, hands‑on project ownership and direct exposure to senior leaders. Through technical training, professional development and mentoring, PREP accelerates your growth into a well‑rounded energy professional, ready to make a meaningful impact on our business and the future of lower‑carbon energy. You will also be invited to an IMechE accredited MPDS scheme, designed to help you become a Chartered Engineer as soon as possible. You will be challenged and stretched but also supported and trusted at every step by a trained mentor who ensures you complete your training while adding value to our dynamic business.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on long‑term reliability improvements, justifying and recommending reliability projects and equipment enhancements.
  • Set the optimal scope for repairs during shutdowns to ensure equipment captures the whole market during the next mission period.
  • Provide technical support, assisting operations with troubleshooting and recommending corrective action.
  • Understand, evaluate and forecast equipment degradation mechanisms to decide future repair scopes.
  • Evaluate found equipment condition, conduct fitness‑for‑service calculations using hand calculations or finite‑element analysis to ensure equipment is fit for service.
  • Re‑rate discipline‑specific equipment for potential increased production capacity.
  • Gain appreciation for non‑discipline‑specific equipment and understand the roles other departments play in a complex 24/7 operating refinery.

Requirements / Key Skills

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
