The Fixed Equipment Technician role works independently and with others to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. They troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. The main purpose of this role is to assume responsibility for shop and field repairs, ensuring correct installation and commissioning of relevant piping projects and mechanical activities upon static equipment refinery wide.
Responsibilities
- Providing maintenance and repair for equipment, including preventative and predictive maintenance, testing, calibration, equipment upgrades and reliability.
- Successfully diagnosing physical cause of failure in conjunction with Reliability Group.
- Feeding forward continuous improvement ideas/reliability improvements to Discipline Supervisor for consideration.
- Ensuring quality repairs & understanding cause, with zero re‑work.
- Ensuring the most efficient and effective approach to work execution is taken.
- Ensuring OR reports are correctly & timely completed with quality information.
- Ensuring that safety is paramount in all aspects of the work execution, including permit compliance, risk assessments, MSDS, take time, method statements (as applicable).
- Mentoring peers and operators in maintenance work practices and processes.
- Working with Discipline Supervisor/Area Planner to ensure correct updates to BOMs.
- Driving changes to PPMs through supervision.
Qualifications
Basic / Required
- Legal right to live and work in the UK.
- Discipline qualification (City & Guild, S/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Full, valid UK driving licence.
- Demonstrated plant maintenance experience.
- Proven level of competence.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Effective time manager.
- Team player.
Preferred
- Previous experience working with fixed equipment (vessels, drums, etc.) in refining or similar process industry.
- Working knowledge of refinery topography.
