Electrical Engineering Industrial Placement
If you want work experience that really counts, consider a placement with Phillips 66. We are now looking for a student who is working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar electrically biased subject to join us for a one-year industrial placement starting summer 2026.
Your time will be spent working on specific reliability-focused projects alongside our experienced Electrical Engineers and Specialists, providing Electrical Engineering support on the refinery.
As an Electrical Engineering placement student you will get the opportunity to work on a variety of real-life projects within the Electrical Engineering field. You will work alongside our experts on a broad range of technologies used within the process industry, including electrical protection devices, electrical infrastructure and monitoring systems. You will also interface with distributed control systems, industrial networking and cyber security. The placement is designed to help you gain essential and transferable skills for a successful career in the energy sector.
Your assignment will be spent with the Electrical Engineering Team. Please indicate in your cover letter which of your specialisms makes you a good candidate for this role.
Should you do well during your time with us, you may be considered for a graduate position upon completion of your degree.
Qualifications and Education
- You are a motivated and proactive student who relishes a challenge and has an interest in Electrical Engineering in the Energy Sector.
- Working towards a minimum 2:1 in Electrical Engineering or a similar electrically biased degree subject.
- Good engineering/technical knowledge.
- We value previous work experience gained through industrial summer placements, internships, and work experience. Tell us about any experience where you have developed team-working, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

Our Process

Our assessment days will be held at our Humber Refinery and may include an overnight stay and dinner with experienced engineers. Reasonable travel expenses and overnight accommodation will be provided.
