The Analytical Chemist - Metals is responsible for analysis and reporting of coker feed samples and scheduled unit and effluent refinery samples. The role includes operating and maintaining all instrumentation in the metals laboratory to minimize downtime and associated LPOs.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Have expert knowledge of all metals laboratory instrumentation and analytical techniques.
- Calibrate, adjust, and maintain instruments to ensure optimal performance.
- Communicate and consult with customers regarding testing requirements.
- Ensure all interested parties are informed of unusual or off-specification results.
- Perform special analytical testing as directed by supervision.
- Demonstrate problem-solving ability with an analytical forensic mindset.
- Attend and actively participate in industry committees, meetings, and training relevant to the role.
- Train others to maintain business continuity when absent.
- Complete HSE & quality audits as required.
Qualifications
- Legal right to live and work in the UK.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or related field.
- Industry expertise in metals analysis.
- Intimate knowledge of metals laboratory testing and procedures.
- Ability to develop methods and procedures.
- Willingness and ability to train others.
- Interpret data confidently to act upon it.
- Knowledge of calibration principles, methods, and record-keeping.
- Full, valid UK driving licence.
- Strong team-player/leader attributes.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
