Join a Growing Public Law & Judicial Review Practice. Philip Jones Legal Ltd holds Legal Aid Agency contracts in both Immigration & Asylum and Public Law. We are expanding our Public Law team and are seeking an ambitious and committed Public Law Solicitor to lead and develop our Judicial Review practice, with a primary focus on challenges against the Home Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who wants to conduct meaningful, high-impact litigation in the High Court and protect the rights of vulnerable individuals.
The Role
The successful candidate will undertake publicly funded Public Law work, primarily involving:
- Judicial Review claims against the Home Office
- Challenges to unlawful immigration detention
- False imprisonment claims
- Urgent injunctions to prevent removal
- Adults at Risk and vulnerability challenges
- Delay Judicial Reviews
- Certification challenges
- Human rights-based public law claims
There will also be scope to undertake:
- Community care challenges
- Claims against other public bodies
- Strategic and policy-based litigation
You will manage your own caseload and play a key role in developing and strengthening the firm’s High Court litigation profile.
About You
We are looking for a solicitor who:
- Is admitted in England & Wales
- Has experience in Public Law and/or Immigration Judicial Review
- Is confident conducting pre-action protocol work and High Court proceedings
- Has experience with Legal Aid Agency funding and merits assessments
- Demonstrates strong drafting and advocacy skills
- Is commercially aware while committed to access to justice
- Is organised, proactive, and able to manage urgent matters
Experience in unlawful detention and false imprisonment claims is highly desirable.
