We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Immigration & Asylum Solicitor to join our growing team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of publicly funded (legal aid) immigration matters, including asylum, human rights, and appeals work. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor passionate about making a meaningful impact in clients’ lives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of immigration and asylum matters under legal aid supervision
- Advise and represent clients in asylum claims, human rights applications, bail applications, and appeals
- Prepare and submit legal aid applications, ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency (LAA) requirements
- Conduct legal research and draft high-quality representations, witness statements, and appeal bundles
- Attend hearings at the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal where required
- Maintain accurate case records and meet billing and file management requirements
- Ensure compliance with SRA standards and LAA contractual obligations
- Contribute to the firm’s business development and client care standards
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent)
- Experience in immigration and asylum law, particularly legal aid work
- Strong knowledge of UK immigration rules, asylum law, and human rights legislation
- Experience managing legal aid files and working within LAA frameworks
- Ability to handle a high-volume caseload effectively
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, and client care skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Supervisor status under Legal Aid Agency (IAAS accreditation or equivalent)
- Experience representing clients at tribunal hearings
- Multilingual abilities (highly desirable given client base)
