We are looking for a Field Technician/Site Operative/Driller to assist in undertaking our environmental and geotechnical site investigations.
Main Responsibilities
- Organising and packing relevant equipment required for each day's work.
- Assisting in operating a tracked windowless sampling drilling rig (first as a second man, with scope to progress to lead driller), mini excavator, breakers and other equipment.
- Collecting soil samples for laboratory analysis.
- Conducting groundwater and ground gas monitoring visits.
- Keeping clear and detailed records (borehole logs, notes and taking site investigation photos) of all field data collected on each site.
- Maintaining/cleaning the drilling rig and other equipment to ensure that it operates efficiently when required.
- Maintaining our lockup storage units; including tidying up and conducting inventories of materials/equipment.
- Maintaining/cleaning company vehicles to a high standard.
- Having a good awareness of on-site health and safety so as to ensure that all works are completed safely and efficiently.
- Any other duties consistent with the job description that may be required from time to time.
Experience
Candidates with experience of undertaking site investigations would be preferred, but this is not essential.

- Excellent communicator, independent, effective, well organized, teamworker, numerate, detail-conscious, excellent report writer.
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities.
- Communicative, organized, flexible and committed.
- The position may also involve rare travel and nights away from home.
Qualifications
- The position will require daily driving of company vehicles, so a clean driving licence is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written English.
- Numerate and literate, able to work on own initiative and to communicate very clearly.
- Strong, healthy individual who enjoys physical outdoors work.
- Good team player with a can-do attitude.
