The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, expanding and managing Stroma Built Environment’s customer base by building strong customer relationships and compelling sales argumentation to drive sustainable and profitable revenue growth. The BDM should also seek to identify relevant opportunities for the wider Stroma Group and may be required to support these companies as/when business needs require. The BDM acts as the client facing representative for the company, presenting the company in a professional manner to sell the complete portfolio of services offered, whilst providing the highest levels of customer satisfaction, to build mutually beneficial long term relationships.

This role involves market research, strategic planning, lead generation, pipeline management, sales delivery and collaboration with internal teams to deliver solutions that meet client needs and support Stroma’s long-term objectives. The BDM will be responsible for all of the above activities and any other ad-hoc duties required, primarily in their designated region, however, the role will also be required to work across the UK as required to support with national opportunities.

Key Tasks
  • Deliver the revenue target for their region on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Identify, qualify, pursue and secure new business opportunities in target markets.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs.
  • Being the primary customer contact point, taking personal responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction and resolving any issues promptly and professionally.
  • Create and deliver compelling sales proposals, presentations, and pitches to potential clients.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with clients and partners.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment on business strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal sales executives to find potential target clients and inform the sales teams of new Key accounts, managing an effective handover.
  • Delivering company approved corporate and educational presentations/CPD’s and client seminars to communicate key topics, service offerings and company credentials.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipelines, and reporting using CRM tools.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Monitoring sales metrics, identifying trends, and reporting on performance to improve sales effectiveness.
  • Work closely with and/or line manage a telesales advisor to ensure the pipeline is maintained and grown.
  • Keeping up to date on the requirements of the Buildings Regulations and using this knowledge to educate relevant new and existing customers.
  • Promoting a safe, efficient, and inclusive working environment.
  • Taking ownership of your work, meeting deadlines, and delivering quality results.
  • Ensuring a professional manner is always maintained and actions and attitudes foster a productive and respectful environment.
  • Carry out any other ad hoc duties as required commensurate with the role.

  • Excellent organisational skills.
