As a Junior Analytical Chemist within PML’s renowned Biogeochemistry Team, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide range of analytical equipment, both in the laboratory and during field expeditions. Your duties will include collecting and analysing marine biogeochemistry data, ensuring strict adherence to ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 standards for health, safety, and quality, and maintaining meticulous records of your work. The role involves significant fieldwork, including participation in land‑based and ship‑based research campaigns, where you will collect environmental samples and operate sophisticated instruments such as stable isotope mass spectrometers, gas chromatographs, and nutrient auto‑analysers. Comprehensive training will be provided, including sea survival and laboratory safety, to ensure you are fully prepared for the demands of the position.
