The School of Engineering and Informatics at the University of Sussex invites applications for the prestigious John Brian Roberts (JBR) PhD Studentship in the Department of Engineering and Design. This studentship is designed to support outstanding candidates wishing to pursue research in Nanophotonics and/or Metamaterials, with the opportunity to propose a research project that aligns with one or more of the School’s research groups and centres.
Requirements
– Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Electromagnetics and Photonics
– Minimum GPA of 80% for both BSc and MSc degrees
– Strong interest in research related to Nanophotonics and/or Metamaterials
Award Details
– Tax-free stipend at the standard rate for 3.5 years (currently £20,780 per annum for 2025/26)
– Full fee waiver at UK or international rate for 3.5 years
– One-off Research and Training Support Grant of £2,000
