We’re looking for a Global Group Strategy Director to play a pivotal role in leading strategy for one of the most innovative brands in the world: OpenAI. The Group Strategy Director plays a leading role in shaping client vision, unlocking business growth, and elevating the agency’s strategic offering. You will lead the strategic charge across the client relationship — driving integrated, insight-led media strategies that connect the brand to audiences in meaningful, measurable ways. Working closely with clients, planners, channel specialists, data teams and creative partners, you will translate business challenges into effective and progressive comms strategies. Your thinking will influence everything from audience architecture, comms frameworks, award-winning big ideas and measurement approaches. With a strong grasp of evolving consumer behaviour, marketing effectiveness and brand strategy, you will help clients stay ahead of the curve and ahead of the competition.

This role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping bold thinking, and driving meaningful impact. You will be involved in:

  • Developing audience-first, insight-driven communications strategies across key markets and major initiatives
  • Guiding the strategic vision for the client, ensuring consistency, innovation, and commercial impact
  • Advising senior stakeholders and building trusted, upstream relationships
  • Translating business challenges into integrated, progressive comms strategies
  • Shaping long-term roadmaps and proactive solutions in collaboration with client leadership
  • Driving thought leadership — from written POVs to panels, industry events, and internal forums
  • Overseeing strategic quality control to ensure best-in-class output
  • Mentoring and developing Strategy Directors within the team

You’ll excel in this role if you have:

  • Extensive experience operating at Senior Strategy Director level from within a media agency environment.
  • A proven track record of shaping and delivering multi-market media strategic solutions ideally for other global tech (or similar) brands.
  • Deep understanding of audience insights, measurement, behavioural data, and media effectiveness.
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and managing high-profile, complex client relationships.
  • A future-focused mindset, with interest in emerging technologies, AI, and how automation can enhance creativity and performance.
  • Leadership experience, including developing and supporting more junior strategists.

Founded in London in 1990, we were the first media agency to offer strategic and creative planning at a time when the industry was about buying cheaply and quickly. Our founders saw a bright future where smart thinking and clever planning could help brands grow faster than their competitors. Over the many years that have followed, we have continued to build on this defining ethic — with our evolution shaped by a continual investment in thought leadership. Today, with over 100 offices in 74 countries, we continue to create remarkable campaigns that lead to remarkable growth – using the extending canvas of data and technology.

At Omnicom Media Group, we are committed to supporting flexibility for our people while fostering collaboration, innovation, and teamwork. We have a hybrid working model (three days in the office, two working remotely), to ensure that we meet the needs of both our people and our business, balancing the benefits of in-person connections with the flexibility of remote working. Our standard working hours are 9:30 – 17:30, but we offer the ability to flex around core hours of 10:30 – 16:30 to give our people flexibility on how they manage their working day.

We want everyone to make the most of the opportunity to shine and showcase your talents and we are happy to make adjustments in the recruitment process so you can be your best. Please discuss any specific requirements with your dedicated Talent Team member or if you would feel more comfortable, you can email us confidentially to let us know how we can support you.
