Phasecraft is the quantum algorithms company. We are building the mathematical foundations for quantum computing applications that solve real-world problems. Founded in 2019, we are based in London and Bristol, UK. In 2023, we completed a £13m Series A funding round led by Silicon Valley deep tech VC, Playground Global. Phasecraft's access to top quantum computers through partnerships with Google, IBM, and Rigetti provides unique opportunities to develop foundational IP, inform next-generation hardware development, and accelerate commercialization of breakthroughs.

We are hiring a Quantum Algorithms Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in algorithms for gate-model quantum computers, quantum information theory, or related fields. Their work will contribute to developing quantum algorithms for near-term quantum computers, including topics like algorithm optimization, quantum codes, resource analysis, error mitigation, and hardware benchmarking. They will have opportunities to develop a broad research portfolio aligned with Phasecraft's interests.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake theoretical and/or applied research on near-term quantum computing algorithms and technologies
  • Contribute to publications, presentations, patent applications, and similar outputs
  • Collaborate with a small team of staff and PhD students
  • Support the growth and success of Phasecraft through various activities

Minimum Requirements:

Essential criteria:

  • Expertise in quantum information and/or computation theory
  • PhD (or soon to receive one) in quantum information, quantum computation theory, theoretical computer science, physics, or related fields
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on research projects
  • Strong publication record in relevant disciplines
  • Flexibility to work across different aspects of quantum software and theory
  • Willingness to undertake tasks supporting company growth

Desirable criteria:

  • Interest in near-term quantum computing
  • Experience implementing algorithms on quantum hardware or in classical emulation, or strong theoretical/mathematical research with application interest, or software development skills
  • Enthusiasm for learning and research
  • Excellent communication skills
