Role Overview

Join Icon Cancer Centre and play a key role in delivering exceptional, patient-centred, cancer care within a leading private radiotherapy service. As a Radiotherapist you will support the Lead Radiotherapist in maintaining the highest professional, technical and safety standards across both treatment and pre-treatment areas. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will rotate through the planning suite and treatment units, carrying out radiotherapy planning, image-guided treatment verification and treatment delivery using advanced radiotherapy techniques. You will provide compassionate support and clear communication to patients throughout their treatment journey, while contributing to quality assurance, clinical governance, audit, training and service development activities.

This role would suit a compassionate and motivated Therapeutic Radiotherapist who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and is keen to develop their expertise within an advanced radiotherapy environment. You will thrive in a collaborative team setting, enjoy working in a fast-paced clinical environment, and be confident balancing high technical standards with a patient-focused approach. We are looking for someone with strong communication and organisational skills, a commitment to quality and safety, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning new technologies and techniques.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver safe and effective radiotherapy treatments and pre-treatment imaging, ensuring excellent patient care, clear communication, and adherence to IR(ME)R 2017 regulations and departmental protocols.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the planning suite and treatment units, assisting the Lead Radiographer with service delivery, equipment management, complex procedures, and the implementation of new technique.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety and clinical governance, contributing to quality assurance activities, audits, protocol development, and compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to continuous improvement, participating in training, sharing best practice, and keeping up to date with advances in radiotherapy technology and treatment techniques.

Location

Icon UK are proud to be opening a Cancer Centre in Newcastle. The facility is custom-built and will provide state of the art oncology services to our patients. The centre will offer the following services: Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Diagnostic Services. The centre is based in Bedlington, just north of Newcastle.
