Salary: £26,500 - £29,000 per annum, DOE, plus up to a 10% annual bonus & extensive benefits.
Contract type: Permanent. Employment type: Full time. Working hours: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week. We work on a core hours principle. Our core hours are 09:30 - 16:00; you can work around these to suit you!
The Buying Assistant supports the Commercial team by providing administrative and operational support across product launches, promotions, pricing and product data. Working closely with the Senior Category Manager, the role helps ensure commercial plans are delivered accurately and efficiently, while building valuable experience across all aspects of the buying function. What you’ll be doing:
- Coordinate the end-to-end promotional administration process, ensuring all promotional activity is accurate, on time and fully maintained.
- Manage the setup of new products, coordinating New Line Forms, product imagery and product information to ensure timely launches.
- Maintain the product price file via the online system, ensuring all price changes and updates are accurately implemented in line with commercial requirements.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, managing day-to-day communications and supporting delivery of the commercial trading calendar.
- Maintain accurate and engaging product content, delivering a best-in-class online shopping experience, with the Merchandising team.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing and market trends, sharing insights to support commercial decision-making.
- Produce reports and commercial analysis to support trading performance and category decisions.
- Effectively prioritise and manage multiple tasks, building strong relationships and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- Respond promptly to Customer Services queries, meeting agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Who are we looking for?
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with confidence working with data and pricing information.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when required.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Previous administrative experience, ideally within a Buying, Commercial, Merchandising, Retail or eCommerce environment.
- Experience maintaining accurate data across multiple systems.
- Genuine interest in Buying, Retail and commercial trading; pet industry knowledge is advantageous but not essential.
