Location: Leeds (LS15 8GB). We operate a hybrid schedule, 2 days a week in the office.
Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum DOE, plus up to a 10% annual discretionary bonus and extensive benefits.
Contract type: Permanent. Employment type: Full time. Working hours: Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week. We work on a core hours principle. Our core hours are 09:30 - 16:00; you can work around these to suit you!

The Generics Buyer will be responsible for delivering margin and availability targets across an agreed supplier base. The Buyer role is a key role with the commercial team, the candidate will be responsible for owning a supplier base, agreeing costs, placing supplier orders and tracking progress. The buyer will work cross functionally with other departments including operations, clinical and customer service. The successful candidate will be organised, articulate and confident, with a proven track record in buying and an excellent eye for detail.

What you’ll be doing?
- Manage the performance of an established group of suppliers
- Build and maintain positive relationships with new and existing suppliers
- Work collaboratively to achieve agreed margin and availability targets
- Ensure timely ordering and sourcing of products to maximise service levels
- Minimise back orders by proactively managing stock availability
- Maintain stock levels within agreed cash and cover targets
- Support new product launches to ensure smooth and profitable introduction
- Partner with the Buying Manager to ensure effective team operation, deputising when required
- Provide guidance and support to Buying Assistants to help them succeed
- Collaborate with the brand team to agree commercially beneficial deals
Who are we looking for?
- Experience in a buying role, within retail or supplier base
- GAP training preferred but not essential
- Ability to use Excel at intermediate level (VLOOKUPs, Pivots, calculations, sort and filter etc)
- Experience negotiating effectively with suppliers
- Experience in the pharmacy industry is preferred but not essential
- Experience of working in a pressured environment, delivering against tight deadlines
- Experience of working with a portfolio of suppliers
