The Senior QA Engineer plays a key role in ensuring quality across Pharmacy2U’s technology platforms, working within Agile engineering squads to deliver reliable, high impact systems for internal users and customers. With ownership of complex and high risk product areas, the role operates with autonomy and influences quality standards beyond a single team. Depending on where impact is greatest, the position may sit within a product squad or operate within a cross team enablement function, helping raise the quality bar across multiple squads.

What you will be doing:

  • Owning quality for complex or high risk product areas, making decisions on approach, coverage, and tooling.
  • Writing, maintaining, and reviewing automation independently and to a high standard.
  • Contributing to test coverage across UI, API, and integration layers, applying tests at the appropriate level.
  • Leading manual and exploratory testing on complex or high risk features where automation is not suitable or where capacity requires it.
  • Investigating issues across services, environments, and teams when failures occur in unfamiliar or complex ways.
  • Shaping acceptance criteria during refinement and identifying risk before development begins.
  • Coaching QA Engineers and Associates through technical pairing, code reviews, and constructive feedback.
  • Contributing to shared standards, templates, and ways of working, and influencing how quality is delivered across engineering.
  • Reviewing pull requests for testability and coverage quality, not just the presence of tests.
  • Bringing well informed perspectives on emerging testing approaches and applying them with sound judgement.

Who we are looking for:

  • Able to make independent, well reasoned decisions on coverage, tooling, and approach for complex initiatives.
  • Brings informed perspectives on emerging testing approaches, combined with ongoing curiosity and a commitment to learning.
  • Communicates clearly in writing and verbally, whether producing defect summaries, test strategies, or stakeholder updates.
  • Communicates risk clearly and confidently to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Cares about the people impacted by what is tested, with a clear understanding that this means patients in this context.
  • Brings strong hands on QA experience across web and mobile platforms, with a track record of owning quality for complex work.
  • Proficient with Playwright, Cypress, or similar modern automation frameworks, with the ability to design as well as build automated tests.
  • Experienced working closely with engineers, including reviewing pull requests and pairing on test implementation.
  • Approaches testing with an automation first mindset and can clearly explain when automation is or is not the right choice.
  • Experience coaching less experienced QA colleagues and values the development of others.
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript and is comfortable spending time in the codebase alongside engineers.
