The PharmaC team at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has an exciting opportunity for passionate and dedicated individuals who are looking for a new challenge, the next step in their Pharmacy career, or just something different. You will be joining a diverse and professional team, which takes pride in providing a high-quality and efficient medicines supply service to the Trust to ensure that patients receive the best care.

You will be involved in many different aspects of supplying medicines. You will need great communication, accuracy and organisational skills. You must follow strict procedures and instructions carefully; deal with queries and issues promptly and escalate when necessary. You will also need accurate record keeping and IT skills. Pharmacy experience is desirable but full training is provided. We can offer plenty of opportunities for development and progression to those who have demonstrated excellence in the service of our patients.

Experience in customer services, stock and inventory management or medicines procurement is desirable, but the ability to learn quickly and work accurately is important. You must have a good level of education, a minimum of a GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science at Grade C or above. These posts will be based at our Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Liverpool site, but you may be required to travel to work at other PharmaC sites as required.

Main duties of the job:

  • Perform all aspects of medicinal stock management duties, including ordering, receiving, distribution, dispensing, selling, stock taking, date checking and destruction.
  • Follow all departmental and Trust-wide procedures.
  • Understand limits of responsibility, and appropriately escalate any issues or queries when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and safe storage of medicines in line with regulations.
  • Communicate with colleagues, other healthcare professionals, customers, patients and relatives in a clear and professional manner, ensuring accuracy of information at all times.
  • Work towards, achieve and maintain Buttercups Level-2 Pharmacy Assistant qualification.

Salary information: initial starting point £26,209 per annum pro-rata moving to £27,837 per annum upon one year’s service and successful appraisal.

PLEASE NOTE: there is a two-part assessment and interview process for this role. Initial interview invitation will be for a standardised numeracy and literacy test. If successful at this stage you will be invited to a second formal interview session within approximately 7 to 10 days.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: 5 GCSE or equivalent – grade C or above including Maths, English and Science. Holds Pharmacy Assistant qualification (Level-2 Equivalent) accredited by the GPhC.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated use of IT equipment and software in a workplace or college. Awareness of Pharmacy regulations and procedures in the UK.
  • Experience: Experience working to procedures. Experience of customer service. Experience of stock management. Experience in pharmacy services.
