This is a 9-month fixed-term contract within the Finance team of the Shared Services Centre, reporting to the Vice President of Financial Reporting. The role is responsible for preparing VAT returns, tax reporting, and supporting both the finance and tax teams in compiling other tax-related returns, such as corporation tax. The position requires broad and in-depth knowledge of tax practices and procedures, working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting. Additionally, the role involves providing functional guidance to less experienced accountants.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a large accounting firm or a comparable tax accounting environment, preferably within the asset management or financial services industry.
What you can expect:
- Perform the completion of tax reporting matters for the quarter and annual reports, including the review and oversight of the tax expense and deferred taxes.
- Prepare UK indirect tax returns, including annual adjustments.
- Prepare European indirect tax returns, in conjunction with external advisors.
- Support with the preparation of other tax-related returns, for example, corporation tax.
- Support with Inter-Affiliate Agreement Database maintenance.
- Support in the preparation of direct tax returns and reconciliation of direct & indirect tax payments.
- Act as a subject matter expert for tax accounting matters and the main point of contact for associated queries - in particular during the audit of the financial statements.
What you will bring:
- Degree in a relevant field.
- Tax qualification or ACA with 5-6 post qualified tax accounting experience.
- Significant experience of preparing VAT returns, including partial recovery calculations and annual adjustments.
- Significant experience of accounting for VAT transactions.
- Significant experience of preparing CT returns, deferred taxation and accounting for tax transactions and balances.
- Experience of preparing PSA calculations.
- Experience of implementing and maintaining a tax reporting control framework, including documentation of tax reporting controls.
- Experience of transfer pricing arrangements, including review and appropriate implementation of Transfer Pricing agreements.
- Ownership & Initiative: Proactive in taking ownership of tasks, seeking guidance when needed, and confidently challenging the status quo to drive improvements.
- Organisation & Prioritization: Highly organised, able to manage workloads efficiently, prioritise tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a structured manner.
- Attention to Detail & Analytical Thinking: Task-orientated with a strong ability to challenge inconsistencies, ensuring data is fully understood and accurately presented.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Office Technology, including Microsoft Excel (advanced level required), PowerPoint, and Word.
