Acquisitive accountancy practice looking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer.
This is a hands‑on leadership role within a founder‑led business that has grown significantly through acquisition and has clear ambitions to continue doing so. The incoming CFO will work closely with the founder and play a central role in shaping the next phase of the business.
Role Description
The Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic and operational financial leadership to a growing, founder‑led business, acting as a key partner to the board. This full‑time, hybrid role is based in High Wycombe, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week as business needs allow. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include leading financial planning and budgeting cycles, overseeing the production of timely and accurate financial statements and management accounts, and ensuring robust financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders. The CFO will manage cash flow, working capital, and funding requirements, support capital‑raising and banking relationships, and lead financial modeling to inform growth, investment, and potential exit decisions. The role also includes developing and mentoring the finance team, strengthening financial controls and compliance, and providing clear, data‑driven insight to support commercial decision‑making and long‑term value creation.
Qualifications
- Strong core finance expertise, including Finance, Financial Statements, and Financial Reporting, with a track record of leading a finance function at CFO or equivalent level.
- Proven capability in Financial Planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial modeling to support growth and investment decisions.
- Excellent Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, generate actionable insights, and communicate them clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or international equivalent) and experience in founder‑led, investor‑backed, or high‑growth SME environments.
- Demonstrated experience in cash flow management, funding and banking relationships, and supporting equity or debt transactions.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at board level and build high‑performing finance teams.
- Comfort operating in a hybrid working environment based in High Wycombe, with the flexibility to be on‑site as required by the business.
