Our focus is on patients and understanding the critical role our medicines play to produce better patient outcomes. Access and Value is a cross functional team of experts who create and execute comprehensive market access strategies through the integration of access policy shaping and stakeholder engagement, pricing and reimbursement, evidence generation and health economic modelling activities. Your expertise and innovative approaches will help us to better demonstrate the value of our medicines and their impact on patient outcomes.
Role Summary: You will be part of Pfizerβs dynamic market access, Access & Value UK, team and will have the important role of evaluating and delivering on the evidence needs for pre-marketed medicines in the UK. A&V comprises three sub-teams β Health Technology Assessment (HTA), Asset & Access (A&A) and Outcomes & Evidence (O&E). This role sits in the O&E team who lead the evidence generation needs to support reimbursement and access in the UK.
In this role, the primary function is to lead an optimised evidence strategy for the UKβs HTA submissions. This requires the individual to identify gaps in evidence, prioritise those which will make a difference to the likelihood of reimbursement and, if required, plan and deliver new real-world evidence (RWE) studies (such treatment patterns and healthcare resource use). To achieve this, the individual works hand-in-hand with HTA and A&A to drive the overall reimbursement and access strategy which requires strong cross-functional engagement to ensure the strategies are aligned with the UK launch and wider Global strategies.
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate experience in leading RWE studies in the UK and provide scientific input into designs and methods that will ensure the robustness and credibility of the results by NICE/JCVI. In addition, they will need to understand the HTA process and adopt a high-level understanding of cost-effectiveness modelling to assess how new evidence can influence the economic value of our medicines and vaccines. They will be managing multiple pipeline assets and will therefore need excellent time management and prioritisation skills. Strong interpersonal skills to positively collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders and key external stakeholders will also be required to ensure that our work is comprehensive and valuable to patients as well as the UK business.
Role responsibilities:
- Develop thorough evidence gap analyses and corresponding evidence strategies (i.e. solutions for addressing gaps) for complex assets across different therapy areas.
- Work with Outcomes Research scientists in O&E to identify and support patient-centered study requirements for reimbursement.
- Develop business cases to seek funding for studies that clearly and succinctly convey the impact of evidence generation studies on reimbursement and access outcomes.
- Lead RWE projects to a high-standard, end-to-end from conceptualisation to dissemination including management of vendors or internal teams to conduct RWE projects, management of internal processes to ensure compliance with SOPs and ABPI Code of Conduct where relevant.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with cross-functional teams assigned to an asset to ensure evidence plans remain strategic for the business, keep them updated with evolutions in relevant evidence from across the business and report on progress with active studies.
- Work with the HTA managers to develop HTA dossiers that leverage the best-fit evidence to convey the patient-centred unmet need narrative and that optimises the applicability and outputs of the cost-effectiveness model in a UK setting.
- Work with Asset & Access colleagues in Access & Value UK to understand National Health Service needs and drivers for access, particularly as it relates to evidence needs.
- Maintain and develop a working knowledge of advancements in UK datasets, analytical platforms and RWE methods that can be utilised to accelerate or enhance evidence generation.
- Source or provide appropriate training to develop skills and talent in RWE methodology.
Qualifications:
Must-Have:
- Doctoral degree or strong relevant experience across industry and/or consultancy in RWE and HTA/market access.
- Demonstrated experience in evaluating and developing RWE for inclusion in HTA, reimbursement, and access solutions, particularly in the UK setting (NICE/JCVI).
- Lead observational research including UK databases (e.g. CPRD/HES/SACT) with deep understanding of study design, study protocols and analysis plans.
- Strong project management, strategic and analytic skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills to ensure consistency in alignment of the evidence strategy.
- Ability to adapt and change strategies efficiently and pragmatically in response to shifts in market access needs.
- Ability to convey complex data to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong personal integrity and commitment to ethics and working in compliance with Pfizer policies and UK regulations.
