Biologics Process Scientist (CMC Development Sciences)
UCB are currently looking for highly motivated scientists to join the CMC Development Sciences department at UCB’s UK Research and Development Hub in Slough. Working within Biologics Process Sciences you will be part of a team of scientists developing processes for the production of novel protein‑based therapeutics for areas of unmet patient need.
The candidate will work in a team environment, collaborating with various process scientists (upstream and downstream) and analytical scientists. The successful candidate will utilize knowledge in biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology and cellular metabolism to aid in process development and optimisation of early‑stage clinical projects, process troubleshooting investigations, evaluation of cellular responses to process operations, assessment of effects on product quality, and determination of process scalability.
The position is laboratory based and will involve experimentation with bench‑scale bioreactors (primarily 250mL single use), 200L single use bioreactors and associated disk‑stack centrifugation and pilot‑scale equipment. The candidate will apply Quality by Design (QbD) principles utilizing Design of Experiment (DoE) methodology and be responsible for some planning of activities, analysing laboratory data and reporting back to the project leader, line manager and team members on a regular basis. The candidate will produce accurate, traceable records of work, generating documentation for experimental reports to support technology transfer and regulatory filings (Development and Technical Report writing in English).
The candidate will also be expected to contribute to scientific development and technology development projects requiring innovative research, in order to improve USP and primary recovery processes and understanding. The candidate will be a proactive individual, able to demonstrate problem‑solving skills and have the ability to manage multiple tasks, with excellent communication skills.

- Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in one of the following subjects: Biotechnology, Biology/Biological Science, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, Genetics.
Salary: £28,000 per annum

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00am – 17:30pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Core working hours 10:00 – 16:00 with flexible hours thereafter. This is a lab‑based role requiring the majority of time onsite. UCB offers hybrid working.

Sales Operations Trainee (UCB)
UCB is launching new products and facing patent expirations, which will impact future revenue and profitability. To support our strategic goals of providing superior solutions for patients, we, as a team, focus on Sales Operations. This area includes creating incentive compensation schemes, managing territory structures, and planning omnichannel calls for our customer‑facing teams in Europe and beyond. This trainee role will assist in designing, strategising, and implementing these areas, as well as analysing their effectiveness and impact. A strong communication plan and digital tools are essential for smooth processes and accurate documentation.
The role requires a strong understanding of CRM processes and functionalities, particularly using a Veeva system, in order to meet business needs and create solutions in cross‑functional teams.
In this role, you will work with various management levels to support launch and change management programmes, all aimed at optimising our portfolio performance. You will need to integrate Territory Management (TM), OmniChannel Cycle Plan (OCCP), Incentive Compensation (IC), and CRM Operations with various business processes and tools. The role requires successful interactions and cooperation with a wide range of commercial, medical, and market access stakeholders within our business units and the Talent organisation across multiple geographies globally. You must consistently demonstrate understanding and adherence to company policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines.
Candidate Requirements
- Robust working experience in commercial organisations; pharma experience is a nice to have.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated project management/documentation skills.
- Experience with Salesforce/Veeva CRM.
- End‑to‑end process understanding and adaptation for regional use.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to network with various management levels.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, including advanced English language capabilities.
- Willingness to travel.
